Cécile Restier is solocoach and musical director of the Opera Studio at the Opéra Nationale de Lyon.
Cécile Restier completed her studies in piano and accompaniment (art song and opera) at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris. From 2007 to 2012, she was Korrepetitor at the Frankfurt Opera, and from 2012 to 2025 she held the same post at the Vienna State Opera. Alongside her work as a vocal coach, she lectured in French pronunciation and phonetics at the MUK in Vienna. She works regularly with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, as well as at the festivals in Salzburg, Bregenz and the Bard Summer Festival in the USA. and with conductors such as Alain Altinoglu, William Christie, Gustavo Dudamel, Mikko Franck, John Eliot Gardiner and Simone Young. She is the piano accompanist for Roberto Alagna, Piotr Beczała, Plácido Domingo, Angela Gheorghiu, Nina Stemme and Juan Diego Flórez.
Since September 2025, Cécile Restier has been principal répétiteur at the Opéra de Lyon and musical director of the opera studio.
As a guest, he has been invited to many renowned musical institutions, like the Rossini Festival Pesaro, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Edinburgh Festival, Cleveland Orchestra, the Salzburg Festival, and the Festival Lucerne. He collaborates with conductors like Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Christoph Eschenbach, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Harding, Enrique Mazzola, Franz Welser-Möst, Nello Santi und Marcello Viotti. In recitals he has accompanied singers like Barbara Frittoli, Elena Mosuc, Javier Camarena, Massimo Cavaletti, Carlo Colambara and José Cura.
